Steve Mayberry
Chairperson
Steve Mayberry has been an integral part of Tellico Community Players for over 18 years, bringing his passion for theatre to every production and board meeting. His love for the stage began in college, where he and his wife, Debbie, first connected through the world of theatre, a passion they continue to share today.
Since joining the Board of Directors in 2013, Steve has served in multiple leadership roles and is currently the Chair of the Board. Through his experience and commitment, he offers wisdom and guidance to help TCP thrive. His primary focus is on recruiting and keeping dedicated volunteers, ensuring that each production reflects the hard work and enthusiasm of the community.
Steve believes in the unique magic of theatre—how every show develops a life of its own and how the experience enriches the lives of both the performers and the audience. Whether acting, directing, or working behind the scenes, he finds a deep sense of accomplishment in being a part of TCP. Over the years, he has taken on memorable roles, including President Harding in Camping with Henry and Tom, and the iconic Ebenezer Scrooge in The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge. The latter stays close to his heart, as he fondly recalls the character’s joyful declaration: “I’m as light as a feather. I’m as happy as an angel. I’m as merry as a schoolboy. I’m as giddy as a goose.”
Outside of theatre, Steve enjoys golf, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. While he jokingly describes himself as an “open book,” his commitment to TCP has written a story of its own—one filled with creativity, leadership, and an unwavering dedication to community theatre.
Steve’s belief in the importance of theatre extends beyond the stage. He sees it as a driving force that fosters community spirit, develops artistic sensibilities, and brings people together through the power of live performance. Under his leadership, Tellico Community Players continues to thrive, creating meaningful experiences for all who take part.
